Since 2003 Dream has produced optical instruments with truly the highest amount of carbon fiber & CF skinned Sandwich Core (CFSC) of any company in the world. Dream designs & fabricates all of the carbon fiber in house & has been doing composites for the past 20 years. Others use aluminum and solid mirrors extensively, which shows in the mass of their products. Dream's technologies produce instruments that are often 1/2 to 1/3rd the mass of others who claim to be "lightweight," because Dream uses carbon fiber honestly & to such a high level. Dream's CFSC has been developed over the past 20 years and is an ideal technology for opto-mechanical systems; high modulus, low structure & thermal mass, with a Coefficient of Thermal Expansion that matches Dream's highly engineered lightweight mirrors.
***- 95% of the structure weight (without optics) is carbon fiber with only 5% traditional metals (mostly stainless steel).

Make sure the instrument you're considering uses carbon fiber extensively. Ask pointed, specific questions, especially for the mirror mounts, and look closely at photos. There's no truth in advertising, which is one of the main reasons Dream was formed in 2003 and has taken over so many aspects of the products since then. Anodized aluminum isn't remotely close to the same in mechanical or thermal properties as Dream's CFSC... Buyer beware.

***- The highest stiffness, lowest mass structures & instruments in the world, producing cutting-edge all-sky performance.*
***- While other companies say "carbon fiber telescope," most use only 5-10% CF by weight & 90-95% high CTE aluminum.
******True performance doesn't require constant refocusing to compensate for low stiffness & non-athermal losses.

Knowledge is power. Ignorance a liability.

Telescope tube 44" long.

Spider hub, vanes, inserts & hardware are stainless steel.

* Both front surface optical mirrors are Dream's zeroDELTAengineered lightweight mirrors.
***- Mirror seeing and tube currents are eliminated due to Dream's thin-featured highly engineered lightweight mirrors.
***- Dream's zeroDELTA mirrors equalize hundreds of times faster due to extremely short thermal time constant & FAST.
***- 3-6 times lower mirror mass than solid mirror technology, producing far less flexure of mirror mounts and structures.
***- Much higher mechanical stiffness than overly thin, extreme conical mirrors that can't hold their optical surfaces.
***- M2's have been finished to as high as L/125 RMS surface (4.5x better than the diffraction-limit), with 2Å (0.2nm) RMS surface
******roughness & will maintain that extreme performance over at least a +/-3°C temperature swing, which equals the stability
******of the finest grade (lowest CTE) Zerodur.
* FAST: Dream's Filtered Air System Technology.
***- Equalizes the mirrors and interior air volume, while also keeping optical surfaces clean for extended periods of time.
***- Maintains higher reflectivity longer, requiring fewer cleanings & extending the useful life of coatings.
* Intelligent modern designs, implementation and technologies that provide truly cutting-edge total installed performance.
