This view shows the intricate truss system. Two parallel truss beams make up each of the triangle's shape.

The six mirror to cell attachment points were designed with truss members directly under them. This offers the highest stiffness.
 
   
 

The cell was designed for use with a specific low vibration, low noise fan. The open truss and oval cutouts on the mirror-side flange allow the greatest amount of air flow possible.

The large, round back flange prevents air from passing at the outer edges. This helps force air past the edge and the entire back surface of the mirror instead of just at the mirror's edge.

You can also see (with some difficulty...) the narrow cross members that tie each double set of parallel truss beams together. This is where the six points for the mirror attachment are located. These narrow cross members lie below the closed space between each set of three oval cutouts.

The fan adds an additional ~0.12 lbs to the mirror cell, for a total on the mirror cell (without collimation hardware) of 0.348 lbs.
