Dream Astrograph - 24" custom cellular primary and secondary designed by Shane Santi and made exclusively for Dream Telescopes & Accessories, Inc.

Dream received samples 4/19/06 of both a cellular elliptical flat and a cellular large diameter blank. Both were shown at Dream's booth at NEAF, May 6th & 7th, 2006.

Shown left is a raw 9.69" minor axis, 14" major axis, elliptical secondary blank. The one shown to the left is 1.925" thick and would normally weigh 16.0 lbs if it were solid glass.

Click here to see the latest design of the 7.75" minor axis (11.15" major axis) secondary for the 24" f3.5 Dream Astrograph.

The 24" Dream Astrograph's secondary will weigh ~1 pound less than the 5.5" minor axis, monolithic secondary used on the 16" Dream Astrograph.

The photo to the right shows a 22" cellular blank that Dream used as a sample of cellular technology at a trade show.

The finished 24" mirror for the Dream Astrograph will weigh 35.0 lbs. A solid optic of the same dimensions and focal ratio would weigh 129.5 lbs.

One advantage of cellular is how it rapidly equilizes to ambient temperatures. Click below to see a chart illustrating this characteristic.
