The spot diagrams to the right show the 3" coma corrector's performance on a 16" f3.5 Newtonian .

Even at the extreme corners of a 24mm x 36mm CCD chip, the RMS spot radius is 3.3 microns. An amazingly small area at this field location, 22.2mm off-axis. A Ritchey-Chretien Cassegrain at the same location on this size CCD chip is roughly 24.6 microns, more than 7.5 times larger in size.

The spot diagrams to the right show the performance of a 16" f8.4 R-C Cassegrain.

Note that at "field" position "4" the graphic of the "spot" is taller than the entire chart!

The corrected Newtonian has numerous benefits.
